From Awareness to Action: A Social Justice Series

  • Bud Werner Library Hall 1289 Lincoln Avenue Steamboat (map)

Please consider attending this great opportunity for the STAND community in full or in part. Twice a year we bring anti-oppression trainer Regan Byrd to Steamboat for community training sessions. Our next series, "From Awareness to Action: A Social Justice Series," is coming up from May 18thto May 21st at the Bud Werner Library.

While the entire four-part series is open to the public and highly valuable, I want to emphasize Monday’s session for our group:

Monday, May 18 (Full Day): Understanding Systems of Power

  • 9:15 AM – 12:00 PM: Social Identity, Power & Privilege

  • 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM: The Four I’s of Oppression

  • Lunch is provided

Regan brings over 15 years of expertise in nonprofit leadership and transformative justice. Given our mission to disrupt hate and promote anti-discrimination, this session is a vital chance to deepen our frameworks of identity and privilege.

This four-part training series is designed to move beyond awareness and into action.

Participants will explore systems of power and oppression, deepen their understanding of violence and advocacy, and build practical skills to support individuals and communities impacted by harm.

Whether you are a professional, volunteer, or community member, this series offers space to learn, reflect, and engage with real-world scenarios in a supportive environment.

Expect a mix of facilitated discussion, interactive activities, and practical application.

REGISTRATION: From Awareness to Action: A Social Justice Series

A Note on Support:

Registration for this training is free, but we invest significantly to bring Regan to our community twice a year. If you are able, a donation would be greatly appreciated to help us continue providing this level of education and advocacy in Routt County.
