PRESS RELEASE

Steamboat Springs, CO - Friday, January 16

In celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Steamboat Team to Disrupt Antisemitism and Discrimination (STAND) invites the community to attend Our Stories, Our Home: Black Women in Steamboat Springs, a public discussion centering the lived experiences of Black women in Routt County.

The event will take place on January 19, 2026, from 5:00 to 6:30 PM at the Bud Werner Memorial Library. Community members are encouraged to attend, listen, and engage in conversation. Snacks and beverages will be provided, and the event is free and open to the public. No registration is required.

“Our Stories, Our Home creates space to amplify voices that are often unheard in rural mountain communities,” said a representative from STAND. “In the spirit of Dr. King’s legacy, this event is about connection, understanding, and building a more inclusive Steamboat Springs.”

STAND works to disrupt antisemitism and discrimination through education, dialogue, and community-based action. This MLK Day event reflects the organization’s commitment to fostering empathy and belonging across Routt County.
